Being Afraid

Singer-songwriter John Lennon was correct when he said, “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.”

Many lives are lived in the fashion of this stream; wandering here and there. We think we know where we are going, but maybe not really. Part of our problem is we are stuck in one of two mind sets. We often feel like we have all the time in the world and then nonchalantly wander through life. Or we are so afraid of making a mistake and wasting our time we don't do anything.

People have begun sarcastic remarks about this year 2020, as in, "I'm not setting my clock back in November none of us need an extra hour in the year 2020." Yet the problems of this year are mostly man made. Even though on a farm scale the drought is bad our garden has done phenomenally well in spite of the drought. If it weren't for outside expenses we would not be suffering.

The question from a few posts ago "Can a family live on one income?" can be answered as yes with a caveat. A family has to learn to think in terms of one income and begin asking how can we learn to live on one income? Another thing that needs to happen is ask yourself why—why live on one income? Someone had a meme that read, Are you indispensable to your job? (no) Are you indispensable to—and there are several choices to fill in that blank, and the answer is we are not indispensable to most of the things in our lives that we give most of our time to. The one area in which we are indispensable is in our families, yet we treat that area as if it will wait for us to give it more time. It won't.

"We will not go back to normal. Our normal never was. Our pre-Corona existence was not normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate, and lack. We should not long to return my friends. We are being given an opportunity to stitch a new garment. One that fits all of humanity and nature." Brene Brown

Proverbs 16:

1) The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD. 2) All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. 3) Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. 4) The LORD hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil. 5) Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. 6) By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
