Life Is Short
Eternity isn't...Most people believe in an afterlife. There are various and sundry ideas as to what that afterlife will be like. Still the majority are convinced that they will live in this earthly life the way they choose and in their death they will arise to live in a world of constant vacation occupied in whatever made them happy while on earth.
The sad reality is heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. If a person isn't interested in seeking the will of God here and preparing for heaven they are preparing for a different place. They are preparing for a place not prepared for people, but a place designed for the devil and his angels called torment.
There is evil in this world. We see much of it lately, slapped across our television screens, or computer news. Riots, burning, looting are a daily occurrence. As a common citizen we are shocked and appalled at the vile actions of these people. We don't compare with those people, we aren't stealing from our neighbors or friends, but what we don't see is that we all sin and fall short of what we should be and there will be a day of reckoning, a judgement day as it were.
If we haven't contacted the blood of Christ we are not ready for heaven. We shouldn't compare ourselves against other sinners and try to find solace in 'I'm not as bad as so and so'. It isn't a competition against someone else. It is a growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. Here are several scriptures I find inspirational that others may also enjoy:
Psalms 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
5) Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
6) In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
