Different

And the little girl says, "Different isn't always bad, it's just . . . different."

"I can't imagine being married to the same person for thirty years."

"Well, let me tell you, we aren't the same people we were thirty years ago."

And that's so true. Old Fuzzy and I will, Lord willing, celebrate forty-eight years together this spring. Neither one of us could have foreseen what our future held in store back then. We couldn't have foreseen who we would be at this point in our lives.

We've seen great joy and great sorrow, love and betrayal. We were blessed with seven living children, but lost one. We grieved as family and friends lost children as well.

Life under the sun is truly bitter-sweet. As someone has said lately, life in this world is a struggle. If you aren't having a struggle at this moment, you can very well count on that you will have sorrows soon.

So, what do we learn? I would suggest we learn to humble ourselves to God. Submit to His will and commit to doing what's right.

Sometimes when things go wrong the temptation is to stomp off, blame God because He didn't give us what we want. But wait, no where are we told that God is our Fairy God Father, there to fulfill our every wish.

Only too often do we miss blessings because we're pining after what we wanted and not grateful for what we have.

"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." (James 4:6-8 KJV)
