Try the Spirits
Scripture does say to 'try the spirits';
"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world." (1 John 4:1 KJV)
As a child I was convinced there were monsters and ghosts. I also believed in fairies, leprechauns, and other 'little people.
With some of my own children I remembered this childhood prayer to bring comfort and peace during the night.'
"Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; Angels watch me through the night, And wake me with the morning light. But, if I should die before I wake, I pray thee, Lord, my soul to take. Heavenly Father, from above, keep me in thy faith and love, (in Jesus' name) Amen."
I wonder, do people teach their children to pray any more? As people go through this life they are often seeking peace. We hear about 'safe spaces', now a days for young people. Even as old as college students.
One thing we should be teaching them is 'there is no safe space, without God', and neither can we run and hide from God.
We can do things that others might not know of, but we can't do things and hide it from God.
"We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." (1 John 4:6-10 KJV)
