Are You There?
I can't imagine living a life without color. For the past thirty-five years my main occupation has been listed as 'primitive artist'.
Now I can officially list 'retired', but I'll always be a primitive artist. There have been many clever take offs of women who have tried to come up with a better word than 'housewife' or 'homemaker'.
Most people see these attempts for what they are, but few understand why they are. As one woman said, I'm not a housewife...I'm married to a man, not a house.
Domestic engineer? Well, running of the home is an important part of the job, but so is the important part of just being there when needed.
Until my generation, it was assumed that most young girls would become a wife and stay at home mom. Being a full-time work outside the home woman was more of an anomaly.
World War II was a game changer of course. One change was that women realized they could do jobs that had been traditionally considered men's jobs. Men as well realized women could also do those jobs.
And that is a lot of the why. Whether a person acknowledges it or not, at the end of the day they want respect that they have contributed in a positive way. They do not want sneered at, looked down on, or made fun of as 'just a housewife'.
The rub is, no matter what job a person, man or woman chooses to work at, very few will impact the world as much as the wife or mother. We have too many homes with absent fathers and mothers, who are not raising the next generation.
And the next generation hasn't gotten a clue what an intact family is, or how to raise their children. We have a government that embarked upon the greatest social experiment.
The schools have taken over the parent's jobs and they are doing a very very bad job. And it has not happened by accident. But will anyone wake up before it's too late? Will enough anyones wake up before it's too late?
"But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:13-16 KJV)
