Starry Starry Night

The story is told of a young girl and her father watching the night sky fill with stars.

Her response was so simple and profound. "Daddy," she said, "if the wrong side of heaven is this beautiful, just imagine how awesome the right side of heaven will be."

We stand at the end of the old year, hopeful again for a wonderful new year. Like a new notebook page with no mistakes in it—yet, we will move into the future with or without New Year's resolutions.

Generation after generation comes and passes on. Often each generation looks at the depravity of humans and think, 'surely, Jesus must be coming soon'.

Each generation moves on inventing inventions that can be used for good and for evil, and they are used for good and evil. And sadly, the evil grows.

There was a church shooting in Texas Sunday wherein three people died—two innocents and one shooter.

Some would condemn the taking down of the shooter for various reasons, yet the haunting question comes, is mercy only for the evil-doer?

Enemies and evil doers aren't the only ones who deserve mercy. We are supposed to stand against evil in whatever capacity we can muster.

In this coming New Year, although Christ could come at anytime, let us prepare as the warriors of God to stand:

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;" (Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV)
