What do you want when you choose a book to read? A good book has to have several elements to make it good. The first thing we are told it must have is conflict.
But conflict in real life isn't the same. It brings in stress. When reading a good book the plot unfolds, at the end conflict is resolved and often it ends with a happily ever after. The problems in life re resolved quickly and in a short time.
When writing a story the goal isn't just entertainment. The goal is to impart knowledge, as in non-fiction articles, or teach a valuable lesson, which can come through either fiction or non-fiction.
Being paid for your work is a second benefit, the first being able to help others by putting into words something to further their good in life.
As I've written before, in writing my goal is to somehow put into words ideas and thoughts so that when a reader reads those words the light comes on and they find answers maybe they didn't even know they were looking for.
Helping others to avoid pitfalls, see life in a different perspective, enlightening the path to ease the pain in the journey.
"Earth—the journey of a lifetime."
Proverbs 14:15 says, "The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.16) A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident."
