Finish Line

Is life just a sort of horse race? We go through years of practice and running, training and training some more. Then at the end of the race we're put out to pasture?

In the Kentucky Derby there is only one 'winner'. In the Preakness and Belmont it's the same—only one winner. I hesitate to say 'with luck', there is once in a great while a triple crown winner.

But what happens to the rest of the horses in the race? They aren't winners, but they all ran...

What's important to you? I wonder if the same poll was taken that Viktor Frankl alluded to in his speech, the one that said 78% of American students (studying in Europe) were concerned with making a (good) difference in life.

If that poll were taken at this time, would it be the same? What concerns people today?

We hear a lot about this generation called snowflakes. —young people who live in a bubble of their own making and don't have any real world experience.

Compare reality, for instance, in the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapping by Boko Haram in 2014. The major response from the United States was 'Hashtagbringbackourgirls' or #BRINGBACKOURGIRLS...

How effective was this effort? Did these people really think Boko Haram cared or even knew about their response?

The harsh reality of life is...harsh. In a land where a majority of young people think they've never seen prosperity, these young people should visit other countries as missionaries work.

People are struggling because we see a generation who isn't growing up right. They've lost touch with reality.

I'm including this link to a Jordan Peterson interview plus some small clips. Doctor Peterson is a clinical psychologist who lectures world wide. His book, 12 Rules For Life, has caused some controversy as has his stand against and for certain things.

Proverbs 30:11 "There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. 12) There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. 13) There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. 14) There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men."
