If I Had Forever
We stand on the precipice of eternity, yet all we see is minute time flowing around us.
The majesty and wonder of this world and its inhabitants are everywhere but as we grow up we get so wrapped up in ourselves we stop wondering at the world God has created.
Several years ago, Buddy/ Young Fuzzy, during his morning chores came across an unusual moth. I read about these moths in the Gene Stratton-Porter novel, 'Girl of the Limberlost'.
Here is a YouTube on the Luna moth:
One of my favorite stories, Girl of the Limberlost is the tale Elnora Comstock, a young girl growing up in Indiana, her struggles with all things growing up, and a somewhat unhinged mother.
It is a novel well worth the read even for older readers.
The first I ever knew of Gene Stratton-Porter was from one of my Grandmother's household sale box of books, book "Laddie".
I read that book multiple times when I was a child. I've since read it multiple times to my children as they were growing up. Here's another link to a Gene Stratton-Porter YouTube:
Gene Stratton-Porter became an influential tool to open the eyes of the public to the wonders of nature around us. Born in 1863 her life was ended abruptly in 1924 when she was involved in a traffic accident.
In our finite world we act as if we have forever. We live as if we have forever, but our time is limited. Just as the day Gene began her last moments, few of us have knowledge of how or where our lives will end.
Let us prepare for eternity, then live our lives accordingly. Do not take this time for granted. Do good today; we aren't promised tomorrow.
James 4:14 "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."
