"I only want payment for doing my task, And wealth, fame and beauty is all that I ask." Modesty, by Rebecca McCann, Cheerful Cherub 1930~ This comes from my own box of house sale books.
I'm not sure how a person could add to Ms. McCann's words of wisdom. She had a whole book of short little ditties like that. The first one that caught my eye was:
"Puddles, In deep and almost liquid mud, I dropped my only dime. I didn't find it— but I searched and had a lovely time."
On occasion I find an ant in my sugar sack that sits on my counter. Invariably the ant is running around and around...I can't tell if he's waving his little antennae and proclaiming to the ant world that he's found nirvana, or if he's trying to get out.
I always scoop him out and wash him down the drain. No more dilemma, at least for me.
My children have never quite reconciled to the fact that somewhere between the kings and queens in our family, their silver spoon was lost...
They say that all Irish are related to the king. I've pondered on that one...because I do things like that. And I've used that to inform people that I'm related to 'Kings, queens, and horse thieves, and that at times they were the same thing.'
Since we are Christians I encourage the entrepreneurial spirit. No matter how happy people are to share their wealth with you, make sure you give them something of equal value in return. Rise above the 'horse thieves' and do the right thing.
1Peter 1:13 "Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober and set your hope perfectly on the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14) as children of obedience, not fashioning yourselves according to your former lusts in the time of your ignorance: 15) but like as he who called you is holy, be ye yourselves also holy in all manner of living; 16) because it is written, Ye shall be holy; for I am holy.
