Of Men
"We cannot force someone to hear a message they are not ready to receive, but we must never underestimate the power of planting a seed."
One of our favorite things for some people of this family is fishing. The old variety kind where you take a rod and reel and sit on the water bank waiting for el pescado.
So, people have to be smarter than a fish...what does that mean when our anglers come home fishless?
They had a good time while fishing, but in order to eat they must work harder somewhere else. Spare time during life in the middle range is difficult to come by.
Many is the time we, friends, and family, have asked the question, "Why is it we are too busy. We're so busy making a living we don't have time to enjoy our life?"
Sadly, we grow up, we grow middle-aged, and we grow old, and then suddenly it has grown too late. Sometimes we still have time to polish our relationships with our children and grandchildren and sometimes not.
I traded the money I would have made in the slave-wage world for time with my family only to be disrespected by acquaintances who found it annoying that I didn't sing the same song they did.
It was annoying to them because we showed that it could be done. In an increasingly expensive world where, 'you can't live on one income', we not only lived on one income, we raised seven children.
Things I would do different? Yes, there are things, because there is no righteousness in being poor (in wealth). But there is no righteousness in being a millionaire either.
Righteousness has to do with character and relationship to God and His Son, Jesus.
