Truth At Any Cost
"The world is millions of years old. Every experiment consistently demonstrates this."
I've found that 'scientific' statement to be amusing. Since no one was present at creation (unless, like Christians who believe in the creation account in the scriptures, you believe God was there) we can only speculate at the age of the earth.
The scientific experiment that they use is a circular reasoning. I'll attempt to explain it this way. First science assigns time periods to certain strata of the earth's rocks. Then any object found therein is assigned a 'date' of age for said object.
Next of course is to assign a date for the rocks because of the object found in the rocks...
There actually is as much credence to the earth being much younger—say ten thousand plus years old, as there is millions of years.
When I was a youngster reading books out of the dusty boxes of books in my grandparents' storage room, I absolutely loved the old readers/school books from the 1950s.
Most of them were old Catholic grade school readers, but they had all sorts of stories. Some were 'current' and some were tales from old, such as "Saint George, the Dragon Slayer".
I never gave myself airs as if I was of high-intelligence, but I noticed how much those dragons looked like dinosaurs. Maybe not as big, but still large and impressive.
They have found ancient cave drawings that show dinosaurs and the local cave dwellers in battle. Over twenty years ago Old Fuzzy and our family listened to a presentation given by Karl Baugh about a museum in the works in Glen Rose, Texas.

He spoke about fossilized dinosaur tracks that had a human footprint embedded in it, and other tracks that had tracks from a cart running beside them.
Throws a wrench in somebody's monkey, showing that humans and dinosaurs lived at the same time...

A truth is a useful, reliable statement of how the world is. You can ignore it, but it will cost you, because the world won’t work the way you hope it will.
You can dislike the truth, but pretending it isn’t true isn’t an effective way to accomplish your goals or to further our culture." Seth Godin~
