Timed Out
"You have the world by the tail on a downhill slide."
I've always wondered about that saying as I remember downhill slides. Some were exhilarating and others were not so great. The ones that we just sped down the snowy hillside and came to a peaceful stop were fine.
On the other hand the ones on which we gathered speed on the gravel road only to slide to a painful end...not so good.
My grandma had many words of wisdom like the above little ditty. I don't know if my own children appreciated them as much as I did, but I still laugh over many of the childhood sayings.
For instance, 'Each to their notion, said the little old lady that kissed the cow.'Or, 'Everyone's strange but thee and me, and sometimes I even wonder about thee.'
Humor. It's been an anchor for centuries to keep people sane. Truisms in humor; to say something twice without saying it twice.
Someone shared this 'Dry bar comedy' on Facebook. Yes, I do have an odd sense of humor.
There's more than one reason this is funny to me. The opening shot about being 'Timed Out'?
In my current life I am amazed at how even small things can make me time out. Everyone we meet has their challenges. We need to be patient with fellow travelers.
Other gems here? Grocery cart— One time I had a memory burp and seeing an unaccompanied cart in an aisle, I thought it was one of those carts with sale items in it.
Thankfully I hadn't removed anything from it, although I must have looked a bit suspicious as I snorkeled through it. Trust me, you don't want to come to the 'Excuse me, I gathered that,' part.
Trying new foods? The three musketeers (Old Fuzzy, Big Fuzzy, Young Fuzzy, and I) were on a special diet one year. That's how we found out we like humus.
Truly, we all wield power. For good or ill, we all have power toward others. How important it is to slow down, live slowly, laugh more and love honestly?
Nehemiah 13:14 "Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof. ...30) Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business; 31) And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good."
