So Long, Farewell

There´s a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall And the bells in the steeple too And up in the nursery an absurd little bird Is popping out to say "cuckoo"

Regretfully they tell us But firmly they compel us To say goodbye

To you

So long, farewell, au revoir, auf wiedersehen So long…

Julie Andrews, Bill Lee

So there you have it. This week is about to come to a close. The weather here has gone south again...well, it got cooler is all. Our last frost free date, the date after which it is highly unlikely that we will get another frost until after September is May 10th.

So we do have a few more days to go. We have had cold snaps even into June, but that's against the law... Although that may be covered in a footnote in the 'laws of nature do what they do with no rhyme or reason'.

The mourning doves are back, and we have stopped putting feed in the bird feeder. Springtime is here. This time of the year we are trying to prepare for, and slide into, the next season. A song comes to mind from Porgy and Bess, Summer Time.

I absolutely love that song. I've looked for a good rendition to link to. Here is one from Leontyne Price.

You must acclimate your ear to hear the words, but it's a powerful song. Hope you enjoy.

We have daffodils blooming and soon there will be Iris, like the picture above. I have a lovely picture of our daffodils, but my computer ate them, so the Iris will have to do for now.

Good afternoon, God's blessings on you today. Take care and do good. Until tomorrow.

Ecclesiastes 3:9 "What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth? 10) I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. 11) He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. 12) I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. 13) And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God."
