What's Left Behind
I'm sure you've noticed that when you take a trip or a vacation when you get back home there is invariably something you're missing. At times it isn't a huge loss, but at times it can be.
A hotel or motel might mail it to you. Friends or family might mail it as well. Sometimes you're just out of luck.
Amongst our family we have some who take issue with the term 'luck'.
The definition of luck is "a purposeless, unpredictable and uncontrollable force that shapes events favourably or unfavourably for an individual, group or cause".OR "events that influence one's life and are seemingly beyond one's control"Luck has three aspects which make it distinct from chance or probability 1) Luck is good or bad 2) Luck is by accident or chance 3) Luck applies to a person or group of people.”
It is difficult as a Christian to believe in luck per se. "We know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Rom 8:28
God is taking care of us. Sometimes we see it as good and sometimes not. With God it is for our best. There are times when we look back at something we wanted when we were younger and thank God we didn't get it. At the time we thought we would die without it.
Of course, we know that like the wicked spiteful fairy in Sleeping Beauty who casts an evil spell and means it for revenge against the King and Queen, and it is turned into something tolerable by the good kind fairy who came after.
Our adversary, the devil as a roaring lion is seeking to do us harm. Not that God is like a good fairy. He is much above and beyond that, but He's still in control and it will be okay.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 "I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. 12) For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them."
