All Day Meeting
We don't have them every year, but when we do we are well rewarded.
I like this quote by Charles Spurgeon:
"It is the whole job of the whole church to preach the whole gospel to the whole world."
It isn't something we do every so often, or once a year, or on occasion. Being and living as a Christian is an important aspect of our lives.
In the 1800s they had 'tent' meetings that lasted weeks with revivals and whatnots. Then in the 1900s they had Gospel Meetings and they were two maybe three week events. Not only that, but they were well attended events.
During the time when Old Fuzzy and I were married we had narrowed it down to a week long of evening Gospel Meetings. And they were well attended.
Somewhere within the last thirty years we have narrowed it down even more. Now it is three day events such as Sunday through Wednesday, or Wednesday through Saturday, maybe even Sunday.
It is a manifestation of how our culture has constantly been squeezing God and His influence out of their lives. God has been relegated to just a few minutes here and there.
Sunday at one time was called 'the Lord's Day'. In memory it sometimes still is, but only in memory, not in practice. Many mainline churches in our area have been struggling to stay afloat.
There are rumors of a revival beginning across our country, and I do hope it is not just a revival of wanting to be religious, but a revival of wanting to be right spiritually with Jehovah God. The great I Am of the scriptures.
Our All Day Meeting is like a super day of preaching and fellowship. Today we had five excellent speakers, songs, prayers, and a mid-day lunch.
It is an experience. Since we are humans and can't just wave our hand and 'make it so', it takes work and co-operation to bring it about.
People came together to clean the building. Big Fuzzy and his tribe worked at dusting and polishing, and their fearless leader revamped our speaker system, and worked to get it set up for live streaming.
The ladies planned and implemented the meal, no small feat for the size of our congregation and not knowing how to gauge the size of the crowd. Everyone did good even with our limitations.
Here is a link for the first part of the live streaming. Hopeful it works.
Well the meeting is history, and a good memory. Here's to a prayer for a blessing on the last of our and your week.
