Some People Don't Believe
Even though they can witness all the beauty and wonder of this existence there are people who do not confess a belief in God. In 1925 there was a famous trial. It was known as the 'Scopes Monkey Trial'.
Scopes Trial, (July 10–21, 1925, Dayton, Tennessee, U.S.), highly publicized trial (known as the “Monkey Trial”) of a Dayton, Tennessee, high-school teacher, John T. Scopes, charged with violating state law by teaching Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. William Jennings Bryan led for the prosecution and Clarence Darrow for the defense.
There are several things from this trial we should know. It wasn't a 'trial', it was a publicity stunt. It didn't 'prove' the Bible/scriptures true or false, or even evolution true or false.
I don't know why it was known as the "ScopesMonkey Trial", except in evolution it is assumed that humans evolved from apes or monkeys.
I've heard that if they could, apes would cry foul, at such a charge. They aren't real keen as being seen as related to humans.
The theory of evolution has been around centuries. It wasn't really 'Darwin's' theory, although he's given credit for it. Evolution is only a theory. It has never been proven. There are no 'missing links', even though Darwin was so very sure there would be.
Not all scientists have believed in evolution. Matter of fact, most of the greatest scientists throughout history have not believed in evolution.
The modern scientists who have believed in evolution are for the most part, scientists who reject God and His account of Creation. Hence these scientists have had to have some theory of how creation came to be created apart from God.
We've come a long way from the Scopes Trial, and it hasn't been good. It is most always easier to mock and jeer at other people's ideas, especially when there isn't anything to substantiate your own theory.
There is nothing valid to base the theory of evolution on. The fossil record actually supports Creation as told in scripture, but if we were able to honestly tell the facts in regard to Creation people might see and believe the truth. That would put unbelieving scientists at a disadvantage.
Even the smallest particles of God's Creation shout the majesty of God.
Psalms 8:3 "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, The moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4) What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5) For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor. 6) Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet:
7) All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field, 8) The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. 9) O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
