Speak To Me
People at one time believed that 'only those who obey God' go to heaven. Now people assume everyone is on the fast track to a better place after this life. I don't know how this transformation came about. However, it isn't true. This saying sums it up.
"The fact that there is a highway to hell and only a stairway to heaven says a lot about anticipated traffic numbers."
Matthew 7:13 "Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby. 14) For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it."
"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody stands around reloading." Thomas Jefferson
I found that quote funny, but in reality most of humanity enjoys a 'crisis'. Our leaders seem to all prescribe to the ideal: never let a good crisis go to waste. Someone is always reloading...
Mark 9:50 "Salt is good: but if the salt have lost its saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace one with another."
When you are asked how you are feeling, and you don't have a good answer? Maybe to tell them you're feeling 'normal' will do.
"Normal is an illusion.
What is normal for the spider
is chaos for the fly." Morticia Addams
"As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, and one for helping others." Audrey Hepburn
Matthew 7:12 "All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets."
"They say a leopard can't change its spots".
But we're not leopards. We're humans.
Our defining characteristic is our adaptability.
We adapt to survive. My point is: we CAN—
to some point—'change our spots'.
For the better. Don't judge people. Allow people to grow. Tom Hiddleston
I should probably know who Tom Hiddleston is, but I don't. I don't totally agree with the adaptability as a defining characteristic, but it is a great characteristic.
I've read but not seen, that the skin under a leopard's spots is spotted as well. We can adapt, and we can change, but only when we choose to do so.
We aren't leopards, but some people choose to change and some people are content to be leopards.
Matthew 7:16 "By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17) Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19) Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20) Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
