Getting the Call
We hadn't been at the school long and some of us wives were talking. That isn't shocking, nor is it unusual.
Some of us hadn't come from a religious background and jargon from those who had come from a religious background sometimes threw a stick in our spokes.
One of the wives was relating how when her husband had decided to go to the school of preaching one of their acquaintances asked how he had received his 'call'.
Imagine if you will this was back in the dark ages, the late 1970's—maybe 1976. Back then we didn't have cell phones. Even though most people did have landlines, if you lived in an apartment building sometimes you just used a neighbor's phone.
This particular wife could tell a story very well. By the time she finished with her story we were just short of rolling on the floor with laughter.
The long and short of it was when they asked her how her husband had received his call, by the time she finished she was so confused she thought someone had called him at the neighbors and she'd missed it, and he had too.
It was like a 'Who's on First' episode, but it was where was the call and who got it...
I've been perusing memes and here are a couple of my gleanings.
This is the quote:
"If your path is more difficult,
it is because your calling is higher."
*This is my thought. Whereas the above may be true, it also may be your path is more difficult because you don't listen. Our path is sometimes more difficult because you can't fix stupid, and we make our path more difficult.
I found this one at the end of one of the memes. This is only part of it, and it's by 'Claudett':
"It’s not about what you want to do to live, it’s about who you want to become."
*I had shared a link here, but when it came out on the blog, it was not the one that came up initially, and I have removed it.
As I said, that is part of one I found, and that is not my endorsement of the link, but I thought I'd share the thoughts and the link.
This last meme makes me sad, but it is true:
"The innocent and the beautiful have no enemy but time."
