Every New Day
These folks are all smiling. I think even the guy with the beard is smiling. Happy is a good thing.
Yesterday morning I sat on the deck and did my daily Bible reading. That wouldn't sound like much, except in this neck of the woods this time of year is most often inside weather.
Later in the afternoon, as I sat in the dining room looking toward the northeast I could see the evergreen trees across the road shaking vigorously in the wind.
Even some of the taller trees on the north of the windbreak were dancing. But as I sat reading earlier all I was aware of was the beautiful sunrise and peace.
Over fifty years ago, my father-in-law planted a windbreak around the north side of the house acreage. This blessing has provided immeasurable protection through the years.
Our deck is snuggled up to the south side of the house and the windbreak protects everything with in it from the northwest wind. So, the weather yesterday even though not warm per se, was pleasant.
I am saddened by the number of people in this country who, although they have so many blessings are so ignorant and ungrateful. They trample the gifts they are handed from people who have paid dearly.
They keep saying they are going to leave. People keep telling them, 'Just go, and don't let the door slap you in the derriere.' But they still hang on, as it were, threatening us.
When I was young and would 'threaten' something, the older kids in the family would say, 'Is that a threat or a promise?'
My mother was very blunt in some of her phraseology, so I'll rephrase it, 'Either put up or shut up.' So, if they're going to leave they need to do so, or just shut up.
Philippians 3:12 "Not that I have already obtained, or am already made perfect: but I press on, if so be that I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus. 13) Brethren, I count not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, 14) I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
