Go Along to Get Along

A number of years ago I read a book by Masanobu Fukuoka by the name of One Straw Revolution. I don't remember much of the tenets of his book. It had to do with natural farming, or as I kind of remember it, that humans ought to stop trying to interfere with the way plants/crops grow in a natural way.

There was one quote in his book that must be memorable to only myself. I will needs paraphrase it since I can't remember it verbatim, I could not locate it, and it would need rephrased for use here at any rate.

The quote was concerning governments and the choosing of our leaders/rulers. The gist to what he said was: The day to day citizen (or person) would choose their leader(s) to be simple easy (happy go lucky) rulers. Leaders who don't take or make life

hard—What they (we, the small fries) end up with is not what they/we would choose.

Which is why we often end up with tyrants who want to tell us which side of the bed to get up on and which window to crawl out of.

This is not the Monkey with hair and meme that I saw the other day.

The one I saw had a monkey whose hair was sticking up every which way with the caption:

What do you mean where do I see myself in five years? Dude—I'm just trying to make it to Friday.

That's the way most of us are. We're just trying to make it through this world one step at a time. Day by day, one step, two steps, three steps four...

It was around twenty years ago now, in a Bible class a teacher threw this challenge out into the air...and believe me I had never actually thought about this aspect before.

He said if you think you own your own home, just don't pay taxes on it. I was awake before he said it, but I was double awake afterwards.

Lately, some other things have come to light. For instance consider:

125 years ago you didn't have to ask permission from your government to: collect rainwater, go fishing, own a property, start a business, renovate your home, build a home, use a transportation vehicle, get married, hunt, own a weapon, cut hair, sell a product, protest, grow food on your property, set up a lemon aid stand, sell food,

"You can do virtually nothing without being extorted by government and obtaining their permission first. If you still think you're free, you're deluding yourself. You live in a tax farm as free range humans."

Copied from The Three Percenters Original Post

Of course that's the problem. We're like my grandma used to say, 'the little old lady just trying to get along.' There isn't a favorable answer to this dilemma.

Most of us want to live our lives peacefully without the government telling us. We are adults and if we do stupid things we realize we will suffer for it. Or we should realize it.

Consider what John Adams said in a speech to the military in 1798:

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

"Good Education Begins At Home You cannot blame a school for not nurturing values in your child which you have not instilled."

A better world begins with us, the hope of our children and grandchildren rests on our shoulders.

Prayer: It's come to that...

Matthew 18:3 "and (Jesus) said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5) And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me: 6) But whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea."
