Fight or Flight
Given the choice of fight or flight, horses trust in their speed. They are usually animals of flight rather than fight.
Human beings on the other hand can be an either or depending on the individual.
"Did you have a good Sunday?"
"Well, yes we did. There was the usual kid's fight on the church lawn, and there wasn't a Westphal in it."
That may sound funny, but I assure you, I have had that conversation. Or one quite similar. Some children just have a knack.
I have a younger cousin named Patrick, with a very Irish last name. He was always being invited to 'step outside and fight' with someone or other.
He did have a good reputation for defending himself, but he did get tired of fighting. At last someone challenged him and he responded with...
"I tell you what, you go outside and wait for me. If I'm not there in five minutes you start without me."
I doubt that was the end of the challenges, but it provided a good laugh. People are often magnets for one thing or another. Some attract wealth, romance, or... It must be their body type for what they attract.
They say there's always something to fight for, choose your battles well.
