It's Come To That

I have had a number of 'it's come to that' moments in life. The phrase goes with the joke of the preacher consoling someone at a hospital.

I think it was the wife of a very sick husband. The man says to her, "There's nothing left except to pray." And she says with a catch in her breath, "It's come to that, has it?"

So many people leave prayer and petitioning God as a last resort—an 'it's come to that' moment.

That's not my moment at this time. I've decided to send my sister a present. I had to retrieve my address book for her address. Now I have no excuse, I have not only my addresses, but I also have my cards.

I need to sit down and get those cards sent—it's come to that. I suppose tomorrow I'll need to clean up the living room and get a tree set up...that time of the year is upon me.

Thanks to a relative of mine I have one of those ultimate gifts. The magic wand of a life time.

It goes somewhat like this:

'Procrastination is totally a good thing. You always have something to do tomorrow, plus you have nothing to do today.' (From Purple Clover post)

It sounds good on paper at least. That is until it all catches up to me, like the proverbial old timey cartoon. The something that gets caught on the suspenders and stretches way beyond normal.

Suddenly it comes at the suspender occupant and smacks them full in the backside, sending them flying into the next year.

I think it's come to that...

Ecclesiastes 8:6 "for to every purpose there is a time and judgment; because the misery of man is great upon him: 7) for he knoweth not that which shall be; for who can tell him how it shall be? 8) There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power over the day of death; and there is no discharge in war: neither shall wickedness deliver him that is given to it."

Ecclesiastes 8:12 "Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and prolong his days, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, that fear before him: 13) but it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God."
