Everyone Has a Thought
It was supposed to be easy. Just take this synthetic pill once a day.
Sometimes life is simple, but often it can be overwhelming.
Thirty-five years later after struggling with those 'synthetic' pills I've made several observations.
I wish they had told me there were non-synthetic options, but they didn't. They've never worked well.
In today's health care, thyroid problems are surfacing
as one of the newest big problems. As one who has been wrestling with thyroid problems for thirty-four years, I have thoughts.
I have reason not to trust 'health care' professionals. My thyroid didn't need removed in the first place. I believe they call that malpractice...but I didn't know that for a number of years after the fact.
Since the fact, I've seen more stupidity than I want to. For years I operated on a pretty even keel. I had always watched what I ate, and I'm not a real big eater, so it worked. Not well, but it worked. And I've been an over-achiever, even without energy.
It's natural that as you grow older your body starts to slow down and often to gain weight. Thyroid can increase this problem exponentially. My doctor kept insisting the reason I had 98% low thyroid symptoms was because I came from a farm family and we'd always had large meals, so I just over ate.
Doctors use a TSH test for thyroid. Mine wasn't in the right range so he wanted to reduce it. I pointed out the conundrum that he was reducing my thyroid meds and that isn't helpful. I asked him, 'if I were getting too much wouldn't there be symptoms'?
He said, "Yes there would. You would have more energy and lose weight." He thought he was funny—I did not.
Disheartening is the word for it. My thyroid was removed thirty-five years ago, so I've depended on replacement since then.
Here are some thoughts on healthcare in general, and thyroid in specific:
Our current health care system is neither healthy nor is there much care to it. Yes, I have relatives in health care, and I don't say there aren't people who care. I'm specifically speaking to the health care system.
For instance, recently I was diagnosed with scoliosis and degenerative disk disease. The doctor's group I was referred to was loathe to even give me an appointment.
We have an excellent health care non-insurance. We're part of a 'share ministry' of Christians who share their medical needs, but it isn't insurance. With no 'insurance' our office call had to be paid when we went in, not billed.
I did go to the specialist with my x-rays and etc. He looked over them, but again, he wasn't going to treat me, since with the different things wrong 'who knows how much it will end up costing. And where do you stop?'
I don't know that he was happy about what he said, but what can he do? It's a group, and he's only one amongst how many other doctors? Regardless of our assuring them that they would be paid.
Much of the medicine that's prescribed isn't really good for a person. Doctors don't take any courses in nutrition and diet. And they certainly don't know anything on herbs, natural medicines, and natural remedies.
Thyroid? In our entire state I don't believe there is anyone who knows anything about thyroid problems. I've been following a Dr. Tom Brimeyer and Forefront Health.
I don't know anyone who knows more about thyroid and health problems, but...
He has all sorts of info about thyroid, the problem I run into is I'm flying by the seat of the pants in this area. What I've been doing for thirty-five years hasn't worked well.
Some of my family has thyroid problems, and we've bought products that he sells. The products are helping, but it's trial and error. Or more correctly, try, try some more, and keep experimenting.
And when I go back for my yearly blood test will this throw the THS test off and end up lowering what they will prescribe again? If I don't have a bonafide doctor working with me... questions are limitless.
Romans 13:11 "And this, knowing the season, that already it is time for you to awake out of sleep: for now is salvation nearer to us than when we first believed. 12) The night is far spent, and the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light."
