Places to Go...
So, there are a number of events through the year. New Years in January, Valentines in February, birthdays in March, and in March/April there is Passover/Resurrection Sunday and so forth all through the months.
Last year in September we had the wienie roast wherein we hitched the low boy (small hay rack) to the tractor and rode around the field. We would have rode around the pumpkin patch, but Old Fuzzy was derelict of duty and didn't get them planted last year.
This year we did plant a few pumpkins, but the weather turned cold and we ran out of time for the wienie roast. One thing we always have time for this time of year is Big Fuzzy's Annual Chili Supper on the last Friday/Saturday of November.
We don't bring our own bowls, but everyone brings something. I've made a chocolate cake and even frosted it. Yum.
My daughter makes a terrific pineapple upside down cake. I was saying complimentary things about her wonderful cake several years ago. "Mom," she says, "it's not that hard. I just use that lazy day cake recipe there in the book..."
She's also the one that told me when she was having company she liked to make something easy like lasagna. But at the shocked look of unbelief on my face, she explained that lasagna wasn't 'easy', however it was an assemble the day before and bake and serve the day of company.
I made that pineapple upside down cake quite a bit after that, but I did discover the cake recipe was not tasty by itself. For some reason the cake recipes in that book had left salt out of all but one cake recipe.
In big bold letters I have written on every page—Needs Salt. Dietitians have begun to tell people that they do need salt. I know of people who took all salt out of their diets and almost died.
Well, I'll have to finish this story later either Sunday or Monday to let you know how we fared at the Chili Supper.
