And the World Turns Some More
Matthew 21:14 "And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
15) But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children that were crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were moved with indignation,
16) and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou has perfected praise?
Yes, "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings...". As most parents can attest praise out of their children's mouth is usually simple true praise. Children don't often give forth false accolades. But everything out of a child's mouth isn't always pleasant. They don't give false applause, but they don't hedge the truth either.
On a day when I have little visitors, one of them pipes up, 'Mom doesn't work' and I'm rather taken aback at her bold declaration. Knowing things about situations and not usually one for being without words I asses the statement.
The mother of the family that lives next door to this family has just taken a paying 'job' outside the home. This statement could have been a condemnation of their mother, but...
"What do you mean your mom doesn't work? If she does nothing except sit and watch you all day she does the same job a daycare sitter does." As I said, I'm not often without words.
Herein has our society strayed, when a candidate running for office says things like, 'stay at home mothers just leech off of their husbands', and the candidates aren't called out for it.
One for this show is, who made her a judge of the private affairs of a family? If a husband and wife are content in their arrangement it's no skin off of her fat nose.
There was a time before feminism was breathing down our neck, when men and women were seen as complimentary. And I'm not just inferring they said nice things about one another.
Men were strong and protecting of their families, providing not just financial, but physical and spiritual guidance. As one author called it, they were men of 'steel and velvet'. Strong enough to stand between the family and evil that would do it harm and soft enough to love and nurture a wife and family.
Women were also made of steel and velvet, but their metal was different. They nurtured the children and their men taking care of the home and keeping the home fires burning. They were also capable to stand between evil and their family.
Of course we don't need that today, we're modern and don't have home fires... I do admit I've seen a whole lot of brand spanking new homes in the last few years.
Let me rephrase that, beautiful big houses with nice landscaping, and...nobody is home. Lonely houses that could be a home but no husband, wife, or children to be seen.
There is a movement of young women who right out of high school or college joined the work force. Some of them have had a baby, or maybe they are just wiser. Some have decided after the baby was born that they wanted to stay at home with the baby.
Which makes sense. You can drop them at a daycare center and pay some one else to watch them. Or you can save your money and stay at home and watch them yourself.
Something I've said for a long time, maybe even in another post on here, in a two income family, most of one pay check goes for taxes and work expenses.
That makes our big government happy by giving them more of our money to play with. Ever wonder where they get the money to pay for the day care services they provide for low income workers? The freebie services provided by our government aren't really free. They come out of the paychecks of working people.
As a stay at home mom, I figured I had enough bad habits and I didn't need to ship my kids off to day care to learn someone else's bad habits. I didn't ship them off for preschool either. I only had them for the first five years and we were going to enjoy those years together. Some days we did.
Ephesians 5:15 "Look therefore carefully how ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise; 16) redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17) Wherefore be ye not foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is."
