Long Run
Long runs are made up of short runs. You don't win the long run in the short run...
And how true is that. Setting goals. Like having a goal post, when you set goals you have a destiny in sight. How do we reach goals though? One step at a time.
We may take those steps quickly as in running. Or we may move slow, but the main thing is to keep moving toward the goal. On a football field there are markers for every five feet, and in a game you may only move a few inches, but a few inches forward is progress.
In most endeavors, just like a football field with it's markers, it helps to have shorter markers between where you are and your main goal. When you reach a small goal stop and celebrate in some way.
Goals are different for various folks. Not everyone wants the same thing. We must keep the small goals attainable. If a person sets too high a goal theycan easily become discouraged and give up. It is easier with the smaller goals in between to see the progress and keep going.
Everyone's goals won't be the same, and some goals may not seem like real goals. That's okay, not everyone has the same capabilities. Not everyone has the same desires. We all need to celebrate our victories.
1 Corinthians 9:24 "Know ye not that they that run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? Even so run; that ye may attain. 25) And every man that striveth in the games exerciseth self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26) I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: 27) but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.
