Rings on Her Fingers...

If you look closely you will see what doctors and hospitals see when I come in for an appoint-ment. This lovely Bohemian woman has coins in her hair and around her neck. Probably on her fingers, toes and sewn into her clothes as well.

I've shared how I often go to a local old timey doctor who has an old fashioned practice. There are no 'appointments'. You are seen in the order you come in, and he has a 'donation' box, not a 'fee' charge. But he's retiring this year, so I have been looking for another doctor.

I have been to a few other doctors in the past (due to quarrels with my old timey fellow) but haven't been keen on any of them. They all have an office charge set by them and has nothing to do with whether they help you or not.

A few months ago I went to one of these local doctors and a few weeks later I got the bill. Well, it was an extraordinary price. Two weeks later I paid the bill with the included note: Sorry this took so long for me to pay this, but I had to pick myself up off the floor after reading this atrocious bill for an office call.

They had apparently charged me a 'new patient' price, even though I have been there several times before. Well, as I was sorting through the stack of mail about a week and a half later I have a letter from said medical service. When I opened it I find an application for 'medical assistance'.

I was sitting down that time. Good thing, because I'm still in shock and awe. Do they think because someone else pays for my medicine it's any less exorbitant? Hmm, maybe someone else has deeper pockets?

2 Chronicles 16:12 "And in the thirty and ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet; his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to Jehovah, but to the physicians."
