Grandma's Treehouse
If your second childhood starts when you're forty I'm in the middle of my second childhood and planning my next one.
We survived Father's Day. Even Old Fuzzy Farmer survived Father's Day. Someday we will get these things down so that everyone knows what they are doing.
The above picture doesn't have a thing to do with our Father's Day celebration, but I like vintage planes, trains, cars, and lots of memorabilia. We didn't have lots of excitement, but we did have stuff to eat and friendly faces.
Some of my kids decided three years ago to put a deck on the house. Old Fuzzy and the boys used to do construction, so it was a matter of deciding proportions, getting the materials and putting it on. We had to remove the hedge and flowers, and the cement front steps, but after that...
It looked very nice and still does, but the spring after we had it up, I noticed green leaves poking up through the lattice around the outside.
I like to put landscaping pictures up on my board. I have some fairy houses, different flower ideas, and children's play areas. One of the interesting things I have are a number of 'tree houses', most with slides, but not all.
As I was pondering the green leaves poking out of the deck lattice, and some have gotten much higher than that, I told one of my little people who was visiting, 'Look, honey, Grandma has a tree house. Most people build their houses in the tree. My tree house is built over the tree, and as it grows our deck will become the tree house.' I don't know if anyone else found it funny, but I thought it was hilarious. Life--it's often how you want to see it. It's what you make of it. Wishing everyone a good night, and a better day tomorrow.
