A New Month Comes
Here we are facing a new month. October is about to blow into the middle of nowhere with all of it's beauty and the beast. The last few weeks we have had cool weather, and then hot. Now it's cool again, and one of these days it will just be cool with no turning back.
This is a mixed bag as I wrote of beauty and beast. I love autumn weather, but I am prone at the first gust of cold weather to turn slightly blue.
Our first video, "Fuzzy Farmer Strikes Again" was made a few years ago during the winter months, showing an old timey method of picking corn. The last video was made a few years ago as well, but during a much warmer weather. We have several new videos planned on different subjects. We are looking to have some on baking and cooking. Some inside and outside activities should lend themselves toward good videos.
I love the colors, the smell, and the holidays of this time of year. Chili suppers, bonfires and roasted (no my son not raw) marshmallows. When I was a youngster about 58 years ago, and part of a Brownie troop, was the first experience with s'mores. I still love s'mores especially for the memories. Quite a few years ago now we had a 'fall supper' at our house. Everyone brought some kind of soup, we had cake and a pinata. I devised a scavenger hunt and we had great fun. Another year a local preschool came out to the 'Fuzzy Farmer Produce Patch'. We devised a petting zoo from amongst our animals and took the children on a hay rack ride through the pumpkin patch. My mother-in-law gave a demonstration in how to carve a jack-o-lantern, and the children got to choose a pumpkin to take home. We had great fun. The teacher told me the children talked about it for weeks afterward.
What will this harvest hold? Probably a combination of several of these things. And the end game of the activities? We'll have great fun—Lord willing.
"While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." (Genesis 8:22 ASV)
