I Looked Out My Window

We used to sing a Bible class song with that title.

It encouraged little kids to look around at God's creation and see the things God had made for us and our pleasure.

This picture is of my crab apple tree outside of my kitchen window. It was taken a few years ago later in the summer. Now, like a dainty lady in a white lace gown, it is clothed in fragrant white blossoms.

We should be like the poet, "The world is full of so many things, I'm sure we should be as happy as kings...

Another song we used to sing to help children understand that God created living things, not man made items was, If I plant a -- will it grow?

Of course you fill in the -- with an object and the little people tell you if it will or won't grow. Flower? Yes! Sock? No! And on it goes.

Looking through the eyes of little people can be fun. We need to put behind us our old, tired, cynical eyes and see a world full of wonder as a child does.

Homeschooling was an adventure. We got to read and study subjects then make reports and tell others what we learned. Field trips, nature walks, gathering and collecting, all parts of a collective adventure.

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:" (Deuteronomy 6:4-6 KJV)
